ABOUT GAME BUBBLES

Making Steam activity easier to explore

Game Bubbles is an independent project that turns Steam player activity into a visual map. It was built to make a large catalogue of changing player counts easier to scan, compare and explore.

Why bubbles?

A ranked table is precise, but it can hide the scale of the difference between games. A bubble view gives that difference a physical shape. Games with larger current audiences occupy more space, while smaller communities remain part of the same landscape. The result is intended to complement the detailed ranking list rather than replace it.

Exploring categories

The category filter changes the population being compared. Instead of taking the overall leading games and hiding the ones that do not match, Game Bubbles filters the tracked catalogue first and then ranks that result. This means a category such as Indie or Racing can surface games that would never appear among the overall top 60.

What Game Bubbles is not

The site does not score games, estimate sales or claim that player count is a measure of quality. Player activity can be influenced by releases, patches, promotions, weekends, regional time differences and many other factors. The site is best used as a way to explore activity and spot changes worth investigating further.

An independent project

Game Bubbles is not affiliated with Valve. Game names, artwork and related marks belong to their respective owners. The site's contribution is the collection, organisation, historical comparison and visual presentation of player activity.
